Is mesotherapy worthless?
Mesotherapy is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure. Mesotherapy involves administration of injections of vitamins, hormones, essential enzymes and herbal extracts. These ingredients lead to rejuvenated and tightened skin. Since these injections are delivered in the mesoderm (middle layer) the name of the procedure is derived from there.
There are multiple indications for mesotherapy, including:
How does mesotherapy work?
These multiple injections in mesoderm stimulate fibroblasts to produce new collagen and elastin. The fibroblasts are depleted of nutrients—vitamin, minerals, essential amino acids, growth factors, etc. The injections replete the fibroblasts with these nutrients.
The procedure
During the session local anaesthesia cream is applied to the area that will be treated. Doctor delivers multiple injections at the treatment site. These injections are given at varying depth depending on the area and condition being treated.
Multiple sessions are needed to see the desired effect.
Mesotherapy for Hair Loss
Mesotherapy has been used in conjunction with other topical and growth factor based treatments like PRP. The guiding principle is to deliver nutrients around hair follicle and improvement of blood circulation. It is quite effective when combined with PRP.
The entire procedure can take anywhere between 30 to 45 minutes depending on area and condition being treated.
Mesotherapy for Dry Lips
Mesotherapy works wonders for giving the moist look for lips. The dry and dehydrated lips and barcode wrinkles adjacent to the mouth respond well to mesotherapy.
Monday - Saturday: 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM Sunday: Closed
The risks are minimal if done by a trained dermatologist. Most of the common side effects are itching, slight redness and bumpiness at site of injection.
Mesotherapy is good for improving the texture of the skin and for skin rejuvenation. It is not indicated as a stand alone treatment for removing skin wrinkles. It is not a filler so this cannot replace a filler as it will not replace volume loss. However, it works brilliantly for dry and dehydrated lips and for skin rejuvenation.
