Attending a Monsoon Wedding? Five things that every bridesmaid should do for glowing skin

Tips for skin during monsoon wedding
Posted date on Sep 22, 2022

Are brides the only focus during a wedding? You might be wrong! The attention is also on the bridesmaids. So if you’re a brides-maid-to-be attending your best friend’s monsoon wedding, here’s a quick wedding guide to glowing skin this season.

Read on to find 5 ways you can prevent monsoon from being a troublemaker for your skin and hair.

1) Sunscreen is a must:
Just because you can’t see the sun doesn’t mean you skip sunscreen. Cloud cover does not protect you from harmful UV rays. Whether you are indoors or not, sunscreen is a must.

Applying Sunscreen

SPF 30 is ideal and will protect your skin from powerful UV rays. You can switch to water-based sunscreens for the monsoon to avoid the greasy-sticky feeling.

2) Soap-free face wash
It is important to preserve your skin’s natural oils, especially during the monsoon. Switch to soap-free cleansers. Washing your face with a gentle face wash 2 to 3 times a day is sufficient. You don’t want to over-wash and aggravate the sebum production leading to multiple skin problems.

If you are unsure of which is the best cleanser for your skin time, consult a dermatologist in advance.

3) Exfoliate regularly
Exfoliation removes dead skin cells and improves blood circulation. If you use make-up regularly, you must exfoliate at least three times a week. You can also opt for chemical peels or microdermabrasion but do consider consulting a dermatologist beforehand especially if you have sensitive skin.

Exfoliate regularly

In general, using a good exfoliator twice a week is a good practice for a healthy-glowing skin.

 4) Plan a Dermatology grade facial
Why should brides have all the fun? Daily stress , pollution, lack of daily routine skin care can all make one look aged or dull skin. One of the few tips for glowing skin is to start treatments aimed at improving skin health early.

They not only help with dull skin but also improvise the skin health over the long term. At-home sheet masks or parlour grade facials do not achieve much in regards to skin health.

5) Moisturise regularly
Lightweight moisturisers, which are 80% water-based are perfect for the season. They keep your skin hydrated throughout the day. For more radiant skin you can choose a moisturiser with vitamin E.

Your before-bed skincare routine can play an important role. Don’t forget night moisturisers that are anti-aging or have skin-firming formals and wake up to younger and firmer-looking skin every morning.

 6) Less make-up
It is best to avoid using excessive makeup during monsoons. It tends to clog up your skin pores leading to acne breakouts. Reduce makeup use, let your skin breathe, and heal as much as possible. If you do use makeup regularly, make sure you never hit the sack without removing the makeup thoroughly.

7) Stay hydrated
Hydration is the key to healthy skin. Your skin is a reflection of your water intake. Two to three litres a day is ideal consumption to flush out the toxins from your body. So, drink plenty of water. You can even add a slice of lemon or cucumber to your water to make it enjoyable. Lemon provides vitamin C for glowing skin and cucumbers are an excellent source of vitamin B5 which helps in reducing acne.

Stay hydrated

 Final tip!
Skin infections are rampant during monsoons. Apart from special care for your face, make sure you maintain good hygiene to protect your skin from any fungal or bacterial infections.
